NAAC Peer Team visit at GGm Science College on 22-23rd July 2022

A three-member peer team from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru visited Govt. Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu on 22nd and 23rd July, 2022 as the college went in for its third cycle of accreditation.
The Peer team comprised of Dr. Namadeo Jagannath Pawar (NAAC Chairman) Former Vice Chancellor, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, Maharashtra, Dr. Kiran Singh, Professor (NAAC Member Coordinator) of Chemistry, Kurukshetra University and Dr. Sylvanus Lamare (NAAC Member) Former Principal, St. Edmund’s College, Shillong, Meghalaya.
On the first day of the visit, Principal, Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo delivered a power point presentation about the College’s current status and its recent developments in terms of infrastructure expansion and steps being taken to implement National Education Policy 2020 in the forthcoming session. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Gupta, IQAC Coordinator, also delivered power point presentation on the role of College IQAC for ensuring quality initiatives and its sustenance in the college for evolving, enhancing and sustaining excellence in its academic and administrative practices.
NAAC Peer Team also interacted with HODs of all teaching departments of the college. They also met with the stakeholders of the college, i.e., parents, students, alumni and representatives from the Department of Higher Education. The team assessed the infrastructure of the college and visited various departments and laboratories and interacted with the teaching and non-teaching staff. The team also visited Dr. D. N. Wadia Museum of Geology. The day ended with a cultural programme, presented by the students, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Visits to different facilities like the college library, boys’ hostel, browsing centre, NCC, NSS, sports, rain water harvesting stations continued on the second day. The visits were followed by an interaction with the IQAC members and conveners of different college committees.
The two-day visit concluded with an Exit Meeting in which the NAAC Peer Team was formally welcomed by the principal. The NAAC Chairperson then addressed the members of the faculty and appreciated the efforts of the principal and staff. He shared some observations made by the team, gave valuable suggestions for further qualitative development of the institution and handed over the report to College Principal. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Kumar (IQAC Coordinator).
